The GVA Project

Background
GVA had exacting demands for its workspace. It needed to be functional, achieve the highest BREEAM rating possible whilst creating an instant visual impact to their employees and clients. From their space plan, Axis Scotland Ltd was appointed to act as the Design and Build contractor for this project.

The Building
GVA’s workspace.

The Brief in Brief
Due to the nature of GVA’s business, it was essential that any sound transfer between meeting rooms was minimised.

One of the most stunning features of the project was the digitally printed images of Glasgow which were applied to the glazed and solid partitioning. These gave each area an individual identity. The frontage of the canteen area mimicked ‘The Horseshoe Bar’, one of Glasgow’s oldest pubs. Even the entrance imitated the actual pub door.

Komfort’s Solution

To achieve this Komfort’s Komfire 100 solid and Polar Vision double glazed partitions were specified for the project. Careful consideration was given to all possible penetrations and abutments to existing surfaces to ensure that the independently tested sound performance provided by the partitions was achieved. In addition, all doors had rebated meeting styles and drop-down seals.

The glass together with the intelligent lighting was used to create a seamless flow between the different work, rest and meeting areas.

In addition to the partitioning, Komfort manufactured the doors, KomStore storage wall and produced the graphics for this project.

The end result
The careful selection of products and materials ensured that Axis managed to achieve a post-contract BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’.
