At Komfort, we recognise that new materials are sometimes essential to meet the evolving needs of modern architecture. To minimise the impact of new builds and fit-outs, we have optimised our supply chain to prioritise high-performance, low-carbon alternatives. By selecting materials with high recycled content and lower embodied energy, we ensure that your project’s environmental footprint is significantly reduced from the outset.

High-Recycled Content Aluminium

Aluminium is a cornerstone of our systems, valued for its strength and infinite recyclability. We work closely with our strategic partners to ensure that a significant portion of our material is derived from sustainable sources:
  • Targeted Sustainability: 80% of the material purchased through our preferred supplier is made from recycled content.
  • Strategic Procurement: Currently, over 65% of our total aluminium volume is sourced through these high-standard, preferred channels, ensuring consistency and accountability in our supply chain.

Low-Carbon Steel for Fire rated systems

Our commitment to circular economy principles is demonstrated through the Komfort Defence fire-rated system now available with low carbon steel on a project-by-project basis. Manufactured using an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) powered entirely by 100% renewable energy, the production process utilises a minimum of 75% recycled scrap metal, significantly exceeding the industry standard of 25% typical of conventional steel.

43.75% Average (Embodied Carbon) Reduction: Traditional steel vs. our new low-carbon steel works out to an incredible carbon saving on the steel profile.

This sustainable option delivers market-leading fire protection while helping projects meet strict embodied carbon targets.

Low Carbon Glass Solutions

While all glass naturally contains cullet (recycled waste glass), we go further to provide specialised solutions for carbon-sensitive projects.

This has on average 35% lower embodied carbon than other regular glass.

  • Advanced Manufacturing: On a project-by-project basis, we offer glass manufactured using cutting-edge processes that significantly reduce CO2 emissions and conserve energy during production.
  • Consultative Approach: We work directly with designers to specify the most efficient glass types for their specific environmental targets.
