Collaboration in Action: Komfort and NBS Join Forces to Streamline Specifications
At Komfort, we believe that the best architectural outcomes are built on a foundation of seamless collaboration. To bridge the gap between design intent and physical construction, we recently hosted a high-level roundtable as part of our CALL IN initiative, followed by a collaborative visit to the Hubexo (NBS) headquarters in Newcastle.
The sessions focused on a critical challenge in the industry: how architects and manufacturers can work more closely to eliminate misunderstandings and prevent disputes during the construction and handover phases.

Enhancing the Specification Journey
The partnership centered on the evolution of specification writing. During a recent joint webinar with NBS, our own Priti Gadani joined Stephen Hamil (Innovation Director at Hubexo) and the NBS team to demonstrate how digital tools are revolutionizing the way partitioning systems are specified.
A key highlight was the demonstration of the NBS Chorus ‘Copy to Clipboard’ feature. This allows our technical team to prepare complex, project-specific specifications within our version of Chorus and share them directly with architects. By simply pasting these into their own project models, architects can ensure that every technical detail—from acoustic ratings to fire performance—is accurate and pre-configured for their exact requirements.
Why Digital Collaboration Matters
For complex building systems like partitioning, the margin for error is slim. By leveraging NBS Source, Komfort provides:
-
Verified Technical Data: Ensuring that the products specified meet the rigorous safety and performance standards required.
-
Regional Technical Support: Our experts are listed directly on the NBS platform, making it easy for architects to find localised support for their specific project location.
-
Reduced Risk: Early-stage collaboration via digital tools ensures that the transition from the drawing board to the site is smooth, transparent and dispute-free.
Strengthening Ties in Newcastle
Following the successful roundtable, members of the Komfort team, Priti Gadani, Ellie Lawford, and Allan Orr, were invited to tour the NBS offices in Newcastle. Meeting with Stephen Hamil and technical author James Smith provided a fantastic opportunity to discuss the future of digital construction and how Komfort can continue to lead the way in technical innovation.
Stephen Hamil, Innovation Director at Hubexo, commented:
“It was great to show the Komfort team around our offices. Collaboration is about more than just software; it’s about people working together to improve the built environment.”
