Bridging the Competence Gap – A Resounding Success at Komfort’s Latest Call In Event

Understanding “Call-In”:

“Call-In” is a series of working groups designed to develop best practices for EDI. This initiative, was set out by our very own Priti Gadani and Ellie Lawford who approached Eleanor Strange (AEW Architects), Louise Grimes (M1NT Studio Ltd), Jenny Perrie, Matthew Gavin & Martina Mastrangeli (HORIZON Fletcher Rae), Aida Ahmad & Frances Phillips (BDP) and Jonah Speaks (Turner & Townsend) to lead on important subject matters. Identified by the first fact finding meeting, Komfort and the others, will be leading four sessions in 2025 focusing on Allyship, Competence, Accountability and Investment. These sessions will address unconscious bias and the impact of power dynamics on inclusion.

Competence Call In

The latest Call In event, held in Manchester last night, proved to be a resounding success, offering invaluable insights into the critical topic of competence within the professional landscape. Brilliantly spearheaded by Priti Gadani, the event brought together a diverse group of professionals to address the evolving needs of the modern workforce.

Through a series of engaging, activity-based tasks, attendees delved into a crucial gap analysis, identifying areas where support is most needed to ensure competence among younger professionals. A key takeaway highlighted the vital role all generations play in fostering a supportive environment, especially in our rapidly evolving industries.

The activity-based sessions underscored a powerful message; while individual due diligence is undoubtedly important, continuous support from company leadership is absolutely essential. This leadership is key to driving awareness and influencing positive behaviors around competence, ultimately shaping a more skilled and adaptable workforce.

Looking ahead, the insights gathered from this event will be detailed in an upcoming White Paper, outlining findings and recommending actionable strategies. The next Call In event is already on the radar for September, with the critical theme of ACCOUNTABILITY taking center stage.
