Meet our Health & Safety Manager making a difference, Becki Wilsdon
Becki has been in the Health and Safety industry for 8 years and we’re delighted to have her as a part of the Komfort team. She’s passionate about transforming the perception of H&S from a ‘tick-box’ exercise into a positive, proactive culture. Becki loves that no two days are ever the same and she takes great satisfaction in playing a critical role in people’s wellbeing and our business success.
We caught up with Becki to reflect on her journey so far, the projects she most enjoys and what most excites her about the future 👏 Take a look at what she had to say below.
What do you enjoy most about working in this industry?
I decided to enter the world of Health and Safety because it gives me great satisfaction to make a difference to people’s wellbeing while playing a critical role in the success and reputation of businesses. No two days are ever the same; every person, situation, job and process is individual and unique. Being a Health and Safety Professional can be challenging at times, but it is a highly rewarding, exciting and meaningful job.
Health and Safety, particularly within the construction industry has been historically viewed as negative and a tick box exercise, my goal has always been to reinvent the health and safety culture into an open, modern and positive experience for everyone that I work with, and helping to integrating H&S into everyone’s job roles and responsibility’s as a part of their everyday working lives striving to create a proactive rather than reactive culture.
What are you excited about most for Komfort’s future?
Seeing the continuous improvements, big and small, and the impact they have on people and businesses. I love being part of an ever-evolving company that works alongside exceptional project and manufacturing teams.
What is the most rewarding project you have been involved with?
Although I have only been with Komfort since January, I have been heavily involved with the ongoing Bouygues (Oriel St Pancras) project from the very start and conduct regular H&S site inspections and visits. I have watched the site and our work areas transform a dark concrete shell into a beautiful, bright and welcoming environment. It is a continuous pleasure to be involved with this project, working alongside our open-minded and proactive Project Managers and site teams to keep people and works safe, compliant by maintaining high standards in H&S.
