Komfort are recruiting for a new Quantity Surveyor (Leeds)

We are currently looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the Leeds team.

Job Specification

Department: Operations

Reporting to: Head of Contracts

Accountabilities

  • Risk management, including vetting, amending and agreeing contracts, collateral warranties, NDAs, Performance Bonds and framework agreements
  • Knowledge and experience of standard subcontracts including but JCT 2005, 2011 & 2016, NEC 3 & 4,
  • Monitor and control the currency of all programmes issuing any Extensions of Time Notices and Loss and Expense claims in a timely fashion
  • Financial Management of Projects through tight budgetary control
  • Preparation and submission of Interim applications for payment through to invoices to client, including submission of anticipated final accounts
  • Recognition, preparation, valuation, negotiation, and agreement of variations to contract
  • Production of cost value reconciliation reports and liaise with Credit managers to advise monthly accruals for live contracts
  • Preparation and agreement of Final Accounts
  • Dispute resolution / settlement of contractual claims
  • Attending and contributing to pre-award/pre-contract meetings
  • Visiting sites and liaising with main contractor QS / site team
  • Maintaining good quality accurate records
  • Prepare and monitor project cash flow forecasts
  • Provide advice to project staff on commercial and contractual matters including reviewing and drafting of correspondence
  • Commercial vetting of sub-contractor tenders and contracts
  • Ensuring timely receipt of Payment Notices/Pay Less Notices in accordance with Contract Valuation/Payment Schedules dates
  • Ensure that business commercial processes are adhered to at project level
  • Communicate regularly with project staff and specialist subcontractors to ensure commercial controls are in place, understood and always followed
  • Manage and provide accurate formal reports in accordance with Company procedures
  • Liaise with Estimators whilst providing commercial tender qualifications prior to submissions
  • Development and maintenance of good working relationships with client’s personnel to nurture collaboration and repeat business and to avoid dispute situations

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying (essential)
  • Experience of working for a subcontractor (preferred)
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well within a team-based environment
  • Health and safety qualification (desirable)
  • A proactive problem solver working to achieve results
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good MS Office skills
